One can come across this species from the Bokkeveld Mountains to near Prince Albert on sandstone, shale and quartz slopes and outcrops. The rainfall in this area is between 100 and 200 mm a year, mainly during winter. Although the summers are very hot, there is often some frost in winter.
The plants may become up to 40-50 cm tall and wide and can apparently get very old. (See picture 4)
Flowering is mostly from April to January, but may occur at any time after rain.
Thanks for your your comment, Carolyn. As soon as I know how to work with my new phone I will look into the Instagram idea.
Frans have you thought of instagram on the mobile phones. It would need to be a new phone that can take pictures and has the Internet. Think that’s android…There are some great places to share your succulents. This is what people are doing now (the newer thing) Take a picture with the phone and send it with description (even location) then put a hashtag # which send it to a hub where a whole lot of people are logged on depending on their interests. This then appears when they next go onto Instagram usually daily or twice daily. They can send you questions messages and ‘likes’ per photo. I have a Samsung S4 Mini which I am happy with & my son set up the instagram for me. There is a hub #succulents on instagram. They would love you photos! You need to buy data for the phone to operate the Internet….its different from the airtime which is messaging.
