Glottiphyllum neilii
This is one of the Glottiphyllum species that do not occur in the Little Karoo. Not to be confused with G. nelii.
Photographed 3 October 2012 on the outskirts of Prince Albert.
Conophytum concavum
Photographed near Riethuis 1 April 2012. The flowers were not open yet as it was early in the afternoon.
Cylindrophyllum comptonii
This is the only species of the genus occurring in the Little Karoo. Photographed west of Ladismith 1 Nov. 2012.
Pleiospilos bolusii
These plants were photographed in the same area and the same period as Euphorbia obesa ssp. symmetrica (see yesterday’s post).
Rhinephyllum muirii
Photographed 26 September 2006 near the eastern entrance to Aneysberg Nature Reserve. This is near to the south-western border of the area occupied by the genus.
Hammeria meleagris
Photos taken 13 August 2008 just northwest of Matjiesfontein.
Over time the species has had several names in both Lampranthus and Ruschia.
There is only one other species of Hammeria (H. gracilis) and the genus occurs in a small area between Sutherland, Ceres and Laingsburg.

Ruschia crassa
This species is quite common in the Laingsburg area. Photographed 11 Nov. 2007.
Although the plant is a leaf succulent, like almost all other members of the Aizoaceae family, it looks like a stem succulent as a result of the long and thick leaf sheaths.
Mesembryanthemum excavatum
This interesting annual is very common along roads from Ceres to Beaufort West. Photographed 27 Sept. 2009
